During my Fall 2026 sabbatical, I will join an international cohort of artists and creatives for the Atelier Artist in Residence at Westcove Estate on the rugged coast of County Kerry, Ireland. Set within a community of visual artists, writers, musicians, and interdisciplinary creators, the residency will provide dedicated time for artistic exploration, collaboration, and creative renewal.
My residency is part of a larger sabbatical project, Method and Muse: Creativity and the Art of Play, which explores the intersections of performance, pedagogy, and visual art. During the semester, I will continue research for a flute pedagogical method book, prepare and record a recital of contemporary works, and develop a series of watercolor improvisation cards that pair original paintings with creative prompts. These interconnected projects investigate how play, curiosity, and interdisciplinary artistic practice can enrich music-making, teaching, and lifelong creativity. The ideas and artistic collaborations developed during the residency will inform my teaching, performance, and creative work upon my return to the University of Puget Sound.
